Kings Cross and the Sub-Regional Development Frameworks

SRDFs or Sub Regional Development Frameworks that are to co-ordinate planning for key sites and areas, to address cross-borough issues to show how growth can be accommodated and phased and to identify new and emerging issues for London Plan review will certainly be relevant to the King's Cross Development which will fall under the Central London sub region. The GLA officer co-ordinating the Central London SRDF is John Lett, tel 020 7983 4281.

Sub Regional Development Frameworks (SRDFs) derive from the London Plan, which states that the Mayor, in partnership with other stakeholders in each of the five sub-regions, will bring forward SRDFs for implementing and developing the policies in the London Plan. The SRDFs are to build on existing partnerships for involving relevant boroughs and authorities, statutory agendices including the NHS, Environment Agency, infrastructure providers and represetnation from the private sector, voluntary sector and community groups. Although not statutory, they will be given weight through partnership working.

They are to be linked to other complementary strategies and informed by recent research Studies on

A seminar on Sub Regional Development Frameworks [SRDFs] for community voluntary sector groups in September is to be followed by a further meeting in the afternoon of Thursday December 16th at City Hall in in Committee Room D. This is in preparation for a three month consultation period early in 2005.
